Real Workbenches. Premium Workbenches. BAC Workbenches.

BAC Systems has been manufacturing workbenches in Australia, from Australian steels, for nearly 50 years at the time of writing.

Those familiar with BAC products understand that purchasing from BAC Systems is an investment for life. This reputation has been earned across our drawer storage and shelving systems, and it is equally true of BAC workbenches.

While “BAC” is not an acronym for Benches and Cabinets, the misnomer neatly captures the company’s core expertise. BAC Systems is widely recognised for the quality, durability, and ingenuity of the workbenches and modular storage cabinets it manufactures — qualities that together define the BAC Difference.

Genuine Workbenches Require Genuine Benchtops

At BAC Systems, a workbench begins with a benchtop — a genuine benchtop.
Not an 18 mm plank from a hardware chain.
Not a thin plastic cutting-board sheet.

BAC benchtops are solid, purpose-built surfaces designed to be worked hard: clamped to, drilled into, struck and flogged, and relied upon in applications ranging from precision assembly to heavy industry.

All BAC timber-cored benchtops are a minimum of 40 mm thick and manufactured to withstand real workshop conditions.

Heavy-Duty Steel and Stainless Steel Benchtops

BAC offers a Heavy-Duty Steel Benchtop comprising galvanised steel, expertly formed over a 40 mm solid timber core. This design delivers exceptional strength while reducing noise and vibration from dropped tools.

For environments requiring corrosion resistance and hygienic surfaces, BAC also manufactures a Stainless Steel Benchtop. These benchtops feature a 1.2 mm sheet of 304-grade stainless steel, formed, welded, and bonded to the same robust 40 mm timber core.

Both options are ideal for industrial workshops, maintenance facilities, and production environments where durability is paramount.

Eurobeech Timber Benchtops

Where steel is not desirable, BAC offers the highly regarded BAC Eurobeech Benchtop. Manufactured from laminated European beech sourced from European plantations and finished with a high-grade epoxy coating, this benchtop combines durability with visual appeal.

Suitable for classrooms, museums, offices, laboratories, and industrial workshops alike, the Eurobeech benchtop remains the most popular surface in the BAC range.

Compact Laminate Benchtops for Laboratories and Education

BAC Systems also supplies a lab-grade Compact Laminate Benchtop, manufactured to a market-leading thickness of 25 mm. Available in lengths up to 2020 mm, and in Black or Off-White, BAC Compact Laminate offers exceptional chemical resistance, durability, and ease of cleaning — making it ideal for laboratories and educational environments.

Specialised and Custom Benchtop Solutions

For specialised applications, BAC offers:

  • Six-faced 316-grade stainless steel benchtops for laboratories and marine environments

  • Copper benchtops for Defence Munitions and EO applications where conductivity is required

  • Antistatic mat systems with grounding kits, enabling electronics workstations to be safely grounded to building earth, achieving a resistance-to-ground of approximately 15 MΩ — well within EPA Code of Practice requirements

BAC has also delivered numerous surface enhancements including neoprene mats, nitrile mats, and Armalon vinyl, ensuring every workbench is tailored to its task and environment.
